WASH SINK 1.0

Hi All,

We’re in the process of developing a portable sink. As this is our first blog post, let me tell you how we cot started on this.

Our company, Mclane Mfg. builds equipment and systems for the food processing industry. Think conveyors etc. for companies that make things like cereal, cheese, chips etc.

Because of covid, we’re having a slow year. We took on some work building vendor carts to be used by a winery to serve customers outside. Social distancing for the win. Due to local health codes, the carts needed a hand wash sink to to meet “restaurant” guidelines.

We designed this unit from scratch using off the self components and designed a lightweight enclosure to mount everything. The enclosure unit is cnc cut on a waterjet machine, and then folded on a press brake. These machines will allow us to make these units high quality and consistent.

Materials:

We’ve seen other use plywood, mdf, plastic etc to make low quality wash sinks. These materials don’t hold up well to; vibration, water, humid conditions, or basically any of the conditions encountered by a portable sink. This is why we’re using aluminum. Its lightweight (1/3 the weight of steel), very strong, GREEN / ECO FRIENDLY (Aluminum is one of the most recycled materials on the planet.) and corrosion / water resistant. Aluminum is the ideal material for this wash sink. It lasts a very long time, doesn’t corrode or oxidize under normal conditions, meets the weight requirements for mobility, and is easy to fabricate / manufacture.

We’re excited to see these sinks come together and look forward to improvements in future designs.
